Jivika was selected as one of six finalists in HLTH’s Nurse & Clinician Workforce Solutions competition for its innovative approach to reducing burnout and strengthening the healthcare workforce.

NYU Stern 2024 Grand Prize Winner

Chosen from a 27-venture cohort and six New Venture finalists, Jivika won the $75,000 grand prize for its original microhabit-based approach to reducing healthcare burnout.

Our Journey

One Moment Changed Everything

After a life-threatening experience on Wall Street, Ayman began practicing brief moments of mindfulness because longer practices did not fit her life. Within two months, her stress, relationships, and physical well-being began to change.

Following the Science

Convinced that small moments could create lasting change, Ayman left Wall Street to become an NYU-trained clinical social worker and neuroimmunology researcher. At NYU Langone’s functional MRI lab, she studied how stress affects the brain and behavior.

When Caregivers Needed Care

In 2019, Ayman saw physicians, nurses, and colleagues quietly burning out while caring for everyone else. Healthcare needed support that could fit into demanding workdays, not add to them.

Jivika Was Born

Jivika turned behavioral science into personalized, 30 to 60-second microhabits that healthcare professionals could use during real moments of stress. Small enough to fit into the day, they were designed to become lasting habits.

From Personal Experience to Evidence

In a Mercer University study, Jivika participants experienced a statistically significant 55% reduction in emotional exhaustion in two months. The findings were later presented with Mercer University School of Medicine at AAMC.

The Question Became Bigger

Burnout was not only about individual resilience; documentation burdens, staffing pressures, and after-hours work were also driving it. Jivika’s mission expanded from helping people manage stress to changing the conditions that create it.

Building What Comes Next

Jivika is building a platform that uses HRV, self-reported stress, and EHR workflow signals to predict burnout and guide personalized individual and organizational micro-interventions. The goal is to support people while helping healthcare systems become healthier.
